On Saturday, July 21, 2018, surrounded by family, Harry N. Deal was called home to be with his Heavenly Father. He was born on February 20, 1929, to Orion and Aubrey Deal in Kannapolis, NC. At age 11 his family moved to Wilmington, NC where he attended Wilmington Schools and graduated from New Hanover High School. He was then drafted into the army. He fought in the Korean War and was wounded, earning a Purple Heart. After his discharge he moved to Jacksonville.
On February 28, 1953, he married his love, Letha Thigpen of Beulaville. They had sixty-five years together. He attended barber school and barbered for several years. He then changed occupations and worked as a civil service employee with Base Maintenance as a plumber until he retired.
He enjoyed traveling, camping, and fishing. His faith in God was strong, the foundation of his life. He enjoyed his church, Beulaville Baptist, where he sang tenor in the church choir and went on several mission trips.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Orion and Aubrey Deal; sisters, Helen Fleming and Dorothy Hollopeter; and twin daughters that died shortly after birth.
Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife, Letha Thigpen Deal of the home; daughter Robin Jarman of Beulaville; son Scott Deal (Terri) of Murfreesboro, TN; five grandchildren; Michelle Lamb (Doug) of Beulaville; Sabrina Willaford (Travis) of Beulaville; Nicholas Albano of Beulaville; Anna Ruth and Rebecca Deal of Murfreesboro, TN; and two great grandchildren, Audrey and Benjamin Sutton of Beulaville as well as wonderful nieces and nephews.
