Jeffrey Len Garrett, age 56, died Saturday, April 9, 2022 at home.

Mr. Garrett is survived by his wife, Anita Garrett of Beulaville; daughter, Samantha Facciuto of MO; three sons, Tyler Garrett of New Bern, Jeremy Southerland of Raleigh, Jordan Southerland of NV; father, Larry Wallace of SC; sisters Crystal Cauble of Kannapolis, Lisa Miller of SC; brother, Chris Blanton of Greensboro; and three grandchildren.

Durwood Franklin James, age 88, died Thursday, March 10, 2022 at home. He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter Raleigh and Lizzie Thompson James; brothers, Juan James, Norwood James, Butler James, Raleigh James; and sisters, Lillian James, Norma Lee James, Ferdelia James, and Gladys James.

Durwood had a sweet, kind, and gentle heart. He was always joking and making people laugh. He loved his family and friends deeply. Some of his greatest joys in life were helping others, spending time outdoors, gardening and working at his lifelong career of painting. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, he made hearts smile, he was loved.

Mr. James is survived by his wife, Edna Baily James of Cypress Creek; daughter, Ann James Tripp of Grifton, son Ernie Ray James, Sr. of Cypress Creek, daughter, Dianne Jones of Kinston; sons, Raymond Eugene Grady of FL, Donald Grady of Greenville; sisters Grace Whaley of Cypress Creek, Rachel Bell of SC, Zannie Ruth Brown of Rocky Point; three grandchildren, Kimberlea Tripp Vick and husband Thomas, Michelle Bell and husband Billy, Ernie James Jr.; and six great grandchildren, Elin Grace Vick, Mila Faith Vick, Brady Daniels, Mason Bell, Bentley Bell, and Reagan James.

Faith Bostic Shaw, age 52, died Thursday, February 17, 2022 at home. Faith is helping others in death as a eye and tissue donor.

Faith is preceded in death by her father, Larry “Butch” Pigford Bostic, Jr.; mother, Betty Jean Bostic; son Brandon Matthew Buckner; grandfather, Larry Bostic; grandmother, Annie Mae Bostic; and grandmother, Mary Jane Cottle.

Mrs. Shaw is survived by her husband, James Robert Shaw of Beulaville; daughter, Jennifer Buckner of Jacksonville; son Christopher Shaw of Beulaville; and granddaughter, Hannah Buckner of Jacksonville.

Donnie Mae Phillips, age 81, died Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at home.  She is preceded in death by her husband Charles Preston Phillips, sister Emma Adams, brother Stacy Lee Edwards, son-in-law Bill Henderson, and grandsons Charlie Phillips and Jeremy Huber.

Mrs. Phillips is survived by her daughters, Pansy Henderson of Ashboro, Patricia Huber of Richlands; sons, Ken “Bozo” Foster and wife Michele of MD, Charles Timothy Phillips and wife Bonnie of Bolivia, Nathaniel Phillips and wife Leeanna of New Bern; brothers, Cleveland “Scooter” Edwards of Florida, Phillip “Tootsie” Edwards of Florida, Rashie Edwards of Beulaville, Whitley Edwards of Beulaville; 16 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and 10 great great grandchildren.
