Hidi Roby Link, age 54, of Beulaville, born on September 12, 1964 in Tooele, UT, left her earthly body for eternal life on December 29, 2018. 

She is survived by her spouse, William Link; daughter Rashelle Humphrey (Johnny) and children Brayden, Brooklyn, Bentley, Braelynn; daughter Brandy Hardin (Matt) and children Kelseigh and Landon; and daughter McKayla Link.  She is also survived by siblings Barb Scheftner, Debby Toledo, Ricky Hansen, Diana Leaf, Anne Quinn, Jim Roby and Justin Roby.  Hidi touched many additional hearts and lives during her lifetime. 

Hidi is preceded in death by her mother, Beverly; her father, John and stepmother Judy; and her grandparents. 

Celebration of life service will be on January 6 at 3 PM at Serenity Funeral Home in Beulaville with visitation following the service.  A graveside memorial service will be January 7 at 10 AM at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville.

Pauline Cavenaugh Brown, age 88, died Sunday, December 9, 2018 at Rex Hospital
in Raleigh.

Mrs. Brown is survived by two daughters, Iris Lynn Corley and husband Colonel (Ret) Jerry Corley of Melbourne, FL, and Margaret Sloan of Chinquapin; brother J. T. Cavenaugh of Pink Hill; three grandchildren Clint Sloan of Chinquapin, Justin Sloan and wife Amanda of Spring Hill, TN, Chris Wise and wife Kelli of Miami, FL; and seven great grandchildren Austin, Briana, Brooke, Eliza, Esther, Ezekiel, and Tyler.

The family will also receive visitors at Pauline’s house begining Thurday night, December 13th.

Lawrence Jackson Houston, 91, passed peacefully on Friday, October 12, 2018. Lawrence
was born in Duplin County on February 10, 1927 to the late Mamie and Tom Houston. He was
preceded in death by his parents, several siblings, and his son, Dowan Houston.

Lawrence is survived by his wife of 70 years, Ella Moss Thomas Houston, his son Gregg
Houston and wife Patsy of Pink Hill, son Jody Houston and friend Reginald Woodard of
Raleigh, daughter-in-law Emily Houston, his grandchildren Margie Houston Hunter and
husband Scott of Chinquapin, Matthew Houston and wife Brooke of Raleigh, and Anna
Houston of Winterville.

A visitation and memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, October 14 at Cabin
Original Free Will Baptist Church, 2167 Sarecta Rd, Beulaville. A graveside service will be held
later in the week at East Duplin Memorial Gardens in Beulaville.

Iona Fountain Williams, 92, passed peacefully on Saturday, October 6, 2018. Iona was born in Duplin County to the late Clyde Ervin Fountain and Myrtie Futral Fountain.  Iona was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 66 years, Radford Williams, as well as her sister, Reba, and two brothers, Hobert and Elwood.

Iona graduated from Chinquapin High School in 1943 and for the past twenty years organized most of the annual class reunions.  She lovingly dedicated her life to her husband, daughters, church, and gardening.  Iona was talented in sewing and helped support the family by making most of her daughters’ clothes as they grew up.  Iona enjoyed being outside tending a vegetable garden along with azaleas, roses, and other flowers. She also enjoyed quilting, ceramics, crocheting and word puzzles.  Iona was immensely devoted to her faith at Bethel Presbyterian Church and was proud to serve in many roles over the years including Sunday School teacher, Bible School teacher and director, Women of the Church leader, as well as choir member and Elder.  After retirement, Iona and Rad enjoyed stateside road trips with her sister, Reba and brother in law, Marvin Fountain.  

Iona is survived by her three daughters, Fran Kennedy (Carroll) of Pink Hill, NC, Sandy Cobb (Ray) of Wallace, NC, and Ginny Fountain (Myron) of Raleigh, NC, and her grandchildren, Joy Sandlin (Sherman), David Kennedy (Renee’), Jennifer Cobb, Austin Cobb and Lane Cobb, and her great-grandchildren, Trent Mobley, Katie Fanning, Adam Kennedy and Spencer Sandlin.

The family will receive friends at 1:00 pm on Monday, October 8, at Serenity Funeral Home, 1100 S. NC 41 & 111, Beulaville, NC.  Funeral services, also at Serenity, will be held at 2:00 pm with Crandall Fountain and Johnny Pickett officiating. Burial will follow in the Lanier-Thigpen Cemetery on Quinn Store Road in Beulaville.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the staff at Autumn Village in Beulaville and the Vidant Medical Center Palliative Care Unit in Greenville.
